f you decide that The Denim Beret writing courses are a good fit for your student, please follow the following three-step process to begin:
1) Download the entrance assessment below, and have your student complete it without assistance. Email it to me as an attachment or share it via Google Drive.
NOTE: If you feel that your student needs to begin at a certain level and should therefore bypass the entrance assessment, you may note this on the registration form.
2) Complete and submit the registration form at the bottom of this page. You should receive an email from denimberet@gmail.com within two full business days. If you don't, please check your spam folder and then email or call me directly in case of a technical error. I never ignore registrations or emails.
3) Once we have discussed your needs and goals for your student, I will send you an invoice and set up a time for an orientation video chat. I will also send your student a welcome packet and course schedule.
4) Following the orientation, the course will begin.
The Denim Beret correspondence courses use the following technology:
Google account with access to the following apps -- Gmail, Classroom, Drive, Hangout, and Meet
NOTE: Because of my technical limitations and the synchronous nature of Google apps, all students must obtain a Google account and Gmail email address to work through the courses.

$400/full course + $30 registration fee. Note: Units cannot be sold separately, except on a case-by-case basis.
Alternative option for students in grades 8-12 only: Up to 10 a la carte lessons may be completed to target specific weaknesses. No prerequisite (introductory) unit required.

Before College Comes Craft: An Advanced Writing Course (CORRESPONDENCE)
Prerequisite: Introductory unit -- $30 (This is an easy but essential level 1 unit that may be completed within 2-3 weeks.)

For students in grades 8-12 only -- Up to 8 a la carte lessons may be completed to target specific weaknesses. No prerequisite (introductory) unit required.
Lessons: $15 (except lesson 5, which is $50)
Unit 2 workshop: $30/workshop

NOTE: Level 2 students will need The Seagull Reader: Essays, by Joseph Kelly, by the beginning of Unit 4.
Policies
Billing Policy: Invoices are due within eight days of the invoice date. A two-installment option is available upon request. I accept personal checks, cashier's checks, cash (if local), and Paypal. Your invoice will provide payment instructions and due dates.
Refund policy: For each level, pro-rated refunds are available through the completion of unit 1. (Note: The "introductory unit" and "unit 1" are different units.).
DROP POLICY: If you need to withdraw your student from the course, the following procedures will apply: * The request needs to be made in writing. * The registration fee is non-refundable. * Refunds will be pro-rated if the student has already begun the course. * For full courses, refunds will only be given through unit 1. * For a la carte lessons, refunds will only be given for lessons not yet sent to the student. * Refunds will be given within 7 days of the request, usually in the same way that the initial payment was made.
